Health and Hygiene Week – 24th to 28th September, 2018
Day 1 –This session was done for a poster making activity to be conducted later during the week. The different houses, facilitated by their house moderators, explored the internet for contents related to the topic specially provided to them on which they had to make the poster. It was indeed heartening to see them take decisions while selecting images for the poster, validate contents and prepare a basic layout of the design for the poster. Collaborating, team building, creative thinking, decision making, analytical reasoning, designing and several other skills were displayed by children during this session.
Day 2 – On the second day, students learned all about ‘First Aid’. They explored the contents of the first aid box and learnt about the first aid given to the injured for the different kinds of injury. The presentation on ‘Health and First Aid’ was highly informative and motivated them to be prepared at all times.
Day 3 – Mission Vision: The Ophthalmic health of students was put to test when they participated in the eye checkup camp, conducted on the third day, in collaboration with ASG Eye Hospitals. They also participated in the ‘Clean your School’ drive, during which they cleaned their school campus.
Day 4 – The house wise poster making activity on ‘Health and Hygiene’ was a reflection of the skills of collaboration, decision making and team effort. After the rigorous brain storming session on the first day, the students accumulated their ideas and came up with superb posters on the different ways by which they can stay healthy. They were ably guided by their house mentors while executing their ideas. The four houses – Agni, Bhumi, Jal and Vayu made posters on topics like Dental Hygiene, Exercise and Rest, Eating Healthy food and Healthy Habits.
Day 5 – On the fifth and final day of ‘Health and Hygiene Week’, children participated in a house wise quiz on health and hygiene. The week-long event made children know a lot about health and fitness. All that information was used by the students in answering the questions during the quiz. The assimilation of information was so intense and adequate that there was not a single unanswered question during the quiz.
Blood Donation Camp – 29th September, 2018: The Health and Hygiene Week culminated with the Blood Donation Camp that was organized at The Maalinyai School in collaboration with Lions Club, Patna (Dist. 322E) and Mahavir Cancer Sansthaan, Phulwari Sharif. The Camp was a part of the Health and Hygiene Week that was being celebrated in the school from 24th to 28th September 2018. The teachers, staff members, parents and local people participated enthusiastically to donate blood and create a better and more compassionate society. The proceeds from the blood donation camp will be used for patients suffering from Cancer. Students who visited the camp were informed about the importance of donating blood and its role in saving life during emergencies. It was a memorable experience for one and all, and the satisfaction of doing something for someone in need was visible on the face of every individual who participated.
Grandparents’ Day Celebration – 8th September, 2018:
Does anyone remember how many nights we went off to sleep listening to the stories they told? Did we ever acknowledge their contribution in our life? The students took the opportunity to welcome their grandparents for the Grandparents’ Day celebration by applying tilak and showering flower petals on them. Later, they thanked their grandparents for the love and affection they showered on them by presenting the cards they made during the art activity specially for their grandparents. They spoke about the moments they shared with their grandparents. They also joined their grandparents in an art activity and the quiz time specifically conducted to enhance the feeling of being in school. The overwhelmed grandparents were found searching for words to express the pride they felt by sharing space with their grandchildren on the same platform. It was a memorable day and the memories created by the time they spent together will be remembered for a long time.
Friendship Day Celebration – 3rd August, 2018
In tune with the spirit of Friendship Day, The Maalinyai School students celebrated this day in the company of their dearest friends in school. They expressed love and warmth for each other and wished a "Happy Friendship Day" by tying the friendship band they prepared during the art activity. They imbibed the value of friendship and were made aware of the importance of friends in life, as after parents, siblings and teachers, friends are the ones with whom we spent major time and rely upon.
The enthusiasm for the celebration was evident from their smile as it was as wide as River Nile.
Art Week – 23rd to 27th July 2018
Art Week – Day 1: On the first day of Art Week, Children learnt the basics of sketching. They sketched different shapes using the basic layout of vertical and horizontal lines. They also explored the varieties of HB pencils used for sketching.
Art Week – Day 2: On the second day of Art Week, Children learnt the basics of shading. They explored the use of different pencils for shading and were also informed about the strokes and techniques of shading. They also tried to create a perspective of an object and the effect of light on shading. They shaded objects in the three tones, i.e., the light tone, the medium tone and the dark tone.
Art Week – Day 3: For the third day of Art Week, different activities were designed for students of different grades.
Grade 1 used the thumb printing technique to colour a peacock. This technique consists of placing thumb impressions with the help of paint in a specific manner to create an impression. Children used their imagination beautifully to colour the peacock using this form of art.
Grade 2 created floral pattern with the fork painting technique. They placed the fork dipped in paint in a circular manner to form the impressions and create a flower. They made the stem and leaves to complete the activity.
Grade 3 created art work using the knife painting technique. Children used painting knife, spatula and ice-cream sticks to spread the colour and create an art work. They mastered it within no time and produced brilliant pieces of art work.
Art Week – Day 4: On the fourth day of Art Week, different techniques of art were introduced to students.
Grade 1 students did Aquarium painting and they created the basic background of the aquarium.
Grade 2 students created an art work using the leaf painting technique.
Grade 3 students created a scenery using cutouts of different elements of the scenery. They coloured the elements and then assembled them to complete the scenery.
Art Week – Day 5: On the fifth and concluding day of Art Week, students were introduced to some more techniques of art.
Grade 1 students added elements to the basic background of the aquarium they had created the previous day and completed it.
Grade 2 students made flowers using the thread painting technique.
Grade 3 students created flowers using the cotton bud painting technique.
Earth Day Celebration: 22nd April 2018
The skill of caring, caring for the Earth, caring for the Environment, caring for our future was imbibed by the students of Grade 1, 2 and 3 when they participated in the various activities organized during the Earth Day celebration. The audio – visual session made them aware of the various issues related to the Earth, like pollution of all kinds, non – biodegradable wastes, rising temperatures, decreasing water levels, depleting green cover, to name a few. They also penned down their Earth Day promise on how to save our Earth and prepared a collage out of it.
Annual Sports Day - 17th February 2018
The Maalinyai School celebrated its Annual Sports Day on 17 th February, 2018 at the school premises.
The event was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp followed by the National Anthem and march past. Then the drills and races were organized grade wise.
Foundation: The tiny tots of foundation performed the drill with colourful pompoms tied to their wrists. They participated in the banana race, capsicum race, cookies race and apple race.
Nursery: The little children of Nursery performed with crafty and coloured paper fans. They participated in the stacking pyramid race, match the shape race and balance the ball race.
Prep 1: The children of Prep 1 performed the drill with satin ribbon pompoms. They participated in the lemon and spoon race, relay race and fish race.
Prep 2: The children of Prep 2 performed the drill with coloured balls. They participated in crawling through the tunnel race.
Grade 1: The students of Grade 1 performed aerobics with dumbbells. They participated in collecting the rings race.
Grade 2: The students of Grade 2 performed aerobics with dumbbells. They participated in drag the ball to the finish line race.
Parent races like Crawling through the tunnel, string the beads (Foundation), Collect the beads (Nursery), Tie the satin ribbons on the clothesline (Prep 1), Blow the balloons and tie it on the clothesline (Prep 2) Catch the balls in the basket (Grade 1) and Stepping Stones (Grade 2) were also conducted in which parents participated with a lot of excitement and thrill. The event not only showcased the sporty side of each individual but also witnessed ample coordination between the students and their parents.
The event concluded with the felicitation ceremony in which all the students were presented with a medal and participation certificate.
Every child of The Maalinyai School registered their participation in various events like class drill, march past and aerobics. It was a day filled with energy, excitement, cheers and fun.
Hindi Week - 5th to 9th February 2018
हिंदी सप्ताह – पहला दिन : मेरा परिचय – हिंदी सप्ताह के पहले दिन विद्यार्थियों को हिंदी भाषा से सम्बंधित बुनियादी जानकारी दी गयी | इस दिन, एक गतिविधि का आयोजन किया गया जिसमें छात्रों को अपना परिचय देते हुए अपने बारे में बताना था | सभी नें अत्यंत उत्साह के साथ इसमें भाग लिया और अपने वाक्-कौशल का परिचय दिया |
हिंदी सप्ताह – दूसरा दिन : आओ खेलें शब्दों का खेल – विलोम एवं पर्यायवाची शब्द : हिंदी सप्ताह के दुसरे दिन, विद्यार्थियों के शब्द परिचय का आंकलन किया गया | इस कार्यकलाप के पहले भाग में प्रत्येक छात्र को एक शब्द चुनकर प्रदर्शित शब्दों में से उसका विलोम शब्द पहचानना था |
हिंदी सप्ताह – तीसरा दिन : चित्र वर्णन – हिंदी सप्ताह के तीसरे दिन, विद्यार्थियों में वाक्-कौशल, विश्लेषणात्मक एवं आलोचनात्मक सोंच और काल्पनिकता के विकास को ध्यान में रखते हुए, एक अत्यंत रोमांचक गतिविधि का आयोजन किया गया | इसमें प्रत्येक छात्र को स्मार्ट बोर्ड पर एक चित्र दिखाया गया | अपनी कल्पनाशक्ति का प्रयोग करते हुए छात्रों को उस चित्र के बारे में कुछ बोलना था या उसके इर्द-गिर्द एक कहानी बोलनी थी |
हिंदी सप्ताह – चौथा दिन : लेखक परिचय – हिंदी सप्ताह के चौथे दिन, विद्यार्थियों को “मालगुड़ी डेज” के मशहूर लेखक रासीपुरम कृष्णास्वामी अय्यर नारायणस्वामी (आर के नारायण) के बारे में बताया गया | उनके जीवन पर आधारित एक वृत्त चित्र और उनके मशहूर कथा संग्रह ‘मालगुड़ी डेज’ के नाट्य रूपांतर का एक अंश भी दिखाया गया |
हिंदी सप्ताह – पाँचवां दिन : आओ पिरोएँ शब्दों की माला - इसमें छात्रों को अपने समूह के लिए एक-एक शब्द चुनने थे और उन्हें क्रम में सजा कर एक अर्थपूर्ण वाक्य बनाना था | हर छात्र ने इस कार्य को सफलतापूर्वक पूरा करने के लिए एक दुसरे का साथ दिया और उनकी मेहनत रंग लायी |
The Maalinyai School, Patna launched their logo of Maalinyai Preschool on the eve of Christmas Carnival on 25th of December 2017.
Phuhaar - Summer Camp 2017
The Maalinyai School, Patna celebrated 'PHUHAAR' - it's first Summer Camp with a grand finale on 10th June. Children of ages 3 to 10 years participated in the two week camp in two batches.
'PHUHAAR' engaged students with a variety of activities that ignited the curiosity and expression of the participants.
'Shrijani' was about expressing creativity through painting, clay modelling and craft where the highlight was turning waste into objects of art.
'Aarohan' was designed to enable children to develop leadership skills and team spirit through obstacle race, coding-decoding and treasure hunt. Better analytical skills combined with higher confidence were the outcomes here.
'Vibidhta' was all about exploring the diverse and rich Indian culture through dance, music, costume and food. Children exhibited their creative skills through music, movement and design. Eating and preparing from different cuisines of the country were the highlights here.
'Aaina' was all about creating awareness around social and environmental issues through group discussions. Participants selected the issues to be highlighted and presented it in the form of a street play at the end of the camp.
The summer camp ended on a high note with the Finale where all the learning was showcased by the participants. The parents were satisfied and are looking forward to more such learning experiences organized by The Maalinyai School.
