Most of us take soil for granted and assume it will always be around. Soil is one of the most magical things on earth! Many of us do not understand or value the soil around us, In a true sense, healthy soil is quite important. The world would have no food security without soil. Field Trip - Tarumitra
Encouraging the holistic development of children during school years is important to help them become global citizens. As important as it is to learn in the classroom or labs, giving equal weightage to both indoor as well as outdoor activities like field trips is what will make children well-prepared for what lies outside in the real world. Field trips allow students to interact with what they are learning. The experience goes beyond reading a concept in a textbook as children are able to participate in it physically. Each experience solidifies learning and supports key academic theories.
The students of our school went to the Tarumitra bio reserve for a field trip. They witnessed a huge variety of flora and fauna reserved on 12 acres of land area. They saw and understood the ecological balance of nature and the interdependence of all living organisms. They have realized we owe so much to mother earth who has given everything required for our survival. They have seen organic farming and Sulabh Shauchalayas in which human excreta is decomposed and converted into useful fertile soil or humus. The trip helped our children understand waste management and develop a sense of responsibility towards our environment and how to conserve it to acquire sustainable development.
